THE BINDER OF WOMEN

The Binder of Women is proud to present The World is Never Still, an online group exhibition featuring work by 12 of our 15 members.

When we conceived of this show, COVID-19 and social distancing were fresh in our minds, and we were still getting used to a new reality. As we worked out our plans, news about the violent deaths of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery came to light. Then, George Floyd was murdered, and the landscape changed again. This show is about the things running through our heads: our loves and fears; our creeping dread; our hope. Many of the works were completed in quarantine. Others are part of older conversations with ourselves. All of them offer reflections on a world that is never still.

A portion of the proceeds from our sales will go to Morris Home, a residential recovery program that serves the trans and gender-variant community in Philadelphia. Artists: Michelle Blade, Yasmine Nasser Diaz, Rema Ghuloum, Janna Ireland, Kysa Johnson, Galia Linn, Bruna Massadas, Sarana Mehra, Erin Morrison, Laurie Nye, Julia Schwartz, Ginger Wolfe-Suarez.
